INDIE SHORT FILM “MAKE ME A DOORWAY” TO BE SCREENED AT
TWO FESTIVALS IN OCTOBER
FILM, NARRATED BY
POET ALEXZENIA DAVIS, HEADS TO THE CO-KISSER FILM FESTIVAL AND THE VISIBLE
VERSE FILM FESTIVAL
Los Angeles, CA (September 13, 2012)—Poet
Alexzenia Davis’ work as part of the experimental short film, "Make Me a
Doorway,” will gain a brand new audience as it heads to two festivals this
October. The short film will screen at the 2nd annual Co-Kisser film
festival in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 6. Additionally, it has been selected for
screening at the Visible Verse film festival in Vancouver on October 13.
A compelling
examination of self-awareness, “Make Me a Doorway” delves into topics such as
memory, intimacy, and true understanding. Davis, pens a brave exploration into
the experiences and visuals captured by filmmaker, Jesse Russell Brooks. In a
true collaboration between writer and filmmaker, "Make Me a Doorway"
defines the power of self-discovery while considering what photography makes of
love lost, ultimately revealing how these reflections transform us. The film
screened at the Black Women in Film Festival in June, and more recently, the
Peachtree Village International Film Festival.
Davis, a
native of New York City, released her first book, “Would You Love Me?” in
December 2011. She is currently working on her second book, expected for
release in late 2012.
